Notes on the Records

What is published here, what is deliberately withheld, and how to verify an entry.

Source of Record

Entries are compiled from the Notaries Public daily journals published by the Florida Department of State — a public record released by the state in machine-readable form. The register is revised on a continuing basis.

Information Withheld

This register publishes name, commission series and number, dates of issue and expiration, bonding agency, city, county, and ZIP code. It does not publish street addresses, telephone numbers, or dates of birth, and it omits any record bearing an address restriction under Fla. Stat. §119.071(4)(d).

Independent Verification

An entry here is a convenience and not an official certification. Any commission should be verified directly with the Florida Department of State before it is relied upon in a transaction.

Statutory Fees

Florida limits notarial fees to $10 per traditional act and $25 per online act (Fla. Stat. §§117.05, 117.275). Charges for travel, printing, and signing-agent services are separate and are arranged directly with the notary.

Corrections & Removal

A notary may claim, correct, or request removal of an entry at no charge. Removal from this register does not affect the underlying state record, which remains public.

No Legal Advice

Neither this register nor any notary public in Florida may give legal advice. A notary may not select documents, explain their legal effect, or advise how they should be completed.
